A Beautiful Weekend

Wow - what a beautiful weekend!  Saturday we walked/hiked through a park near our new house called Duff Park.  The walk started along a small river and then we took a left turn up some hills through the woods and back down to the river.  It was so nice to be outside for a change.

And since we were right down the road from the house we took a drive there.  We were shocked to see that they had finished all of the brick and siding.  We peeked in through the windows and our kitchen cabinets are installed as well as some of the hardwood (I'll post inside pictures later in the week when we walk through with the painter).

Decisions...Decisions...

Alright, so I can't decide which area rug I want to put in the dining room.  The walls have chair rail moulding about 1/3 of the way up the wall.  I'm thinking of painting a beige color above the chair rail and a very muted blue below.  The furniture is a rustic restored pine wood.  Here are the choices so far.  Let me know what you think...

Arcadian Area Rug I Brown

Making Headway

Sorry that I haven't updated this in quite some time.  The progress on our house is tremendous.  We are expected to close on November 2nd and will hopefully move in on November 12th (after we pick paint for the walls...ugh).

The First Walkthrough

It's amazing how quickly the house is going up.  Khoa took this picture on Friday, September 9th.

On Monday, September 12th, we did our first walkthrough with Guardian to map out exactly where we want our cable, data and telephone hook ups as well as the surround sound speakers.  On Wednesday, September 14th, Khoa did a pre-drywall walkthrough with our Project Manager to make sure that we were happy with the light and outlet placements.  It's such an incredible experience to be involved from the beginning of the build.  Check out the video of the walkthrough...

Progress

Well - we have made significant progress on the home front.  Unfortunately the build is moving along faster than I am able to post my blogs, so this one is a combination of last week and this week's pictures.  Last Saturday all we had down was the framing to our basement.  To our surprise, we drove by yesterday and found one of our neighbors "walking through our house." The frame of the first floor is up.  It's incredible how quickly they move...

Diana came to interview at Magee last weekend and stayed with us Friday night.  We had some good sushi at Taipei Tokyo and went for a healthy breakfast at Pamela's the following morning.
After we dropped Diana off at the airport we walked around the Shadyside Art Festival.  We fell in love with this piece of art (and actually all of the art from this artist) and purchased this piece.  Check out Julie-Keaten Reed.  Her pieces are magnificent.  We can't wait to figure out the rest of our wall space.
As the day was winding down we walked past this sign in the window.  Now I love frozen yogurt, especially the pinkberry/razzy fresh tart kind.  I just hope that when Happy Berry orders their real storefront sign, they get the spelling right... (ugh)
So this is the structure we found 6 days later...
 This is the garage...

This is the back of the house...

And across the street we found our jet tub for the master bathroom.  Hopefully the rain water is cleaned out before we move in... ;)
