One Month Old

Can you believe it?  I am one month old today.  That means that mommy and daddy and big brother Mochi haven't slept for one month!  I think that they are holding up pretty well.

Now that I'm one month old it seems that mommy tries to reason with me a lot more and respects my opinion about things.  For instance, this morning we had a very nice conversation:

Mommy - "So what do you think Jacob - can mommy take a shower now?"
Jacob - looks directly into mommy's eyes and purses his lips
Mommy - "I'll take that as a yes" and mommy gets to shower.
Mommy - "Jacob that was so nice of you to let mommy shower.  Now do you think you'll let her dry her hair and have a cup of tea?"
Jacob - "WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
Mommy - "Okay Jacob - mommy didn't really want to dry her hair or drink her tea.  She'll try again tomorrow."

Mommy and I have developed a very understanding relationship.  We're going to keep on working on it and I think that eventually she'll see things my way all of the time.

Now I do have a bone to pick with the American Academy of Pediatrics.  They insist on me spending as much of my awake time as possible doing this "tummy time" thing.  However, as you can see from my pictures, tummy time is more like Face-plant time.  I just don't have it in me to lift my head off of this mat and so I spend my tummy time staring at the mat.

Lucky for me Daddy laid down next to me and I was able to focus on him for a little while.

I prefer tummy time on mommy or daddy's chest.

Because I'm one month old mommy now lets me drink out of a bottle, but only a couple of times during the day.  Most of the time mommy's milk still comes from mommy, but sometimes at night mommy's milk comes from daddy in a bottle.  I really like the bottle - and didn't have any problems drinking from it.  Mommy makes me drink from the bottle in a special way - she uses a paced bottle feeding method so that I don't drink too quickly and expect mommy's milk to squirt out from mommy like a geyser.

I think that I might have offended mommy a bit since she worked so hard to get me to drink her milk from her and I latched on the bottle right away, but I think that she got over it.  She even went to the grocery store to celebrate.  I heard her tell Daddy that it was the best food shop she has ever done and even walked down some aisles twice, just to walk down them.  I bet she walked down the baby aisle 4 times to make sure that she bought me lots of stuff.

I also gained some more weight - not a ton like my doctor wants me to, but a little bit.
Because I'm 8lbs 10oz and 22 inches long now, a lot of my newborn clothes are getting tight on me and I get to wear 0-3 month clothes.  I also get to wear size 1 pampers diapers instead of the newborn diapers.  I'm getting so big so fast!

By the way - I think that I look good in navy blue.  What do you think?
